"The frame as an index, relating to the sign by causation alone, speaks silently of art; however depending on the design of the frame, as this will denote certain types of art that will fill the space. But surely with the index of a frame as a sign to show that it encases art, can we frame anything to transform it into art? Can a frame exile its contents? A frame’s purpose is to enclose, but are we enclosing the boundaries of art?"
